Community and Location
Travelling south from Christchurch on the Main South Road you will
be forgiven if you got as far as Rolleston and suddenly realised
that you must have passed Weedons - but when and where? Weedons
is a district and really of little interest to the casual traveller
but for those who call this very progressive area home, Weedons
is more than just a name on a map (click
here for the history of the area). There are no shops, local
hall or the usual pub but Weedons does boast a very popular golf
course, several business enterprises, an Air Force Base and a school
with a proud reputation as well as established farms and a number
of small holding lifestyle blocks.
Weedons School is set in a rural locality, surrounded by farm land.
It is situated ten minutes
drive from Hornby (the southern most suburb of Christchurch) and
five minutes from Rolleston and West Melton. A Decile 10 school,
the catchment area is made up predominantly of farms, life style
blocks, and agricultural enterprises.
The School is located centrally in the Selwyn District, having
easy access to Christchurch’s beaches
to the east and to the Ski Fields in the west. There are a number
of attractions that can be viewed on the Selwyn
District Council website under Selwyn District Attractions.
